Mughal Emperor Akbar had always been more famous for his pairing with the witty Birbal. When Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar released many complained that there wasn't a single mention of Birbal. However that was not the case originally. When Gowariker had originally conceived and shot the film, there was a character of Birbal and some scenes were also shot. But when the runtime became too long, those portions had to be snipped off. The same is available on the DVD of the film in 'Deleted Scenes' section.
