Initially, when Rajkumar Hirani started writing the script, he imagined Shahrukh Khan and Makarand Despande as the lead characters in Munnabhai M.B.B.S. The original choice for Circuit was Makarand. But the roles went to Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi who are even today fondly called as Munna and Circuit.
