Aamir Khan was not confident about his role in "rang de basanti"

Aamir Khan was initially uncertain about taking on the role of DJ, as he was in his 40s and the character DJ was a 25 year old Punjabi in the film. Aamir Khan eventually accepted the role but knew that he had to work on his accent to build into the character. So while the dialogue coach on the sets was training Alice with her Hindi, Aamir was being trained for his Punjabi speech and accents.
