Agnipath star cast and movie review

Director: Karan Malhotra
Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor

Verdict: Better than Good(3 out of 5)

Amongst the first recall values for the original Agneepath is Amitabh Bachchan's trademark self-introduction dialogue of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. While evaluating its official remake, the first thing that crosses your mind is how the reinterpretation of this signature scene would be. Unlike in the original, the monologue plays pretty late in the remake, whereby it establishes Vijay's identity over merely introducing him and with such individuality and elegance that it pays a perfect homage to the original, while at the same time not blatantly imitating it. That is how a remake is supposed to be! Retaining the spirit of the original and having a soul of its own. This dialogue kinda summarizes the overall aura of the remake.

The basic backdrop remains the same. Kancha Cheena (Sanjay Dutt) is the uncrowned king of Mandwa Island and terminates the rebellious village schoolmaster. The master's son swears revenge and grows up to be Vijay Dinanath Chauhan (Hrithik Roshan) under the wings of Rauf Lala (Rishi Kapoor). Lala who trades in human and drug trafficking, rules the Mumbai underbelly. Vijay uses Lala to reach Kancha and thereby reclaim his island and self-esteem.

ghost movie revie

Director: Puja Jatinder Bedi
Cast: Shiny Ahuja, Sayali Bhagat

Ghost is the kind of film you should never watch alone. Not because it will spook you but for the only reason that mazaa toh sab ke saath aata hain! Fun is always multiplied when shared with friends and Ghost belongs to that genre of unintentionally funny films that enjoy cult status with connoisseurs of, what one may call as, accidental entertainment.

This one is a slasher flick with (in-your-)face horror of the variety that could put Ramsays to shame. The film's about a ghost with an inadvertent romantic streak as it literally steals its victim's hearts out of their bodies. It dances atop a tree (as if giving tribute to Betaal) and bleats like a goat (as if making bakra of the unsuspecting viewer). The fainthearted need not complain for even they can enjoy this horror flick which promises more fun than fear. The zombie is honest and upfront and appears without any pretensions, ensuring you feel safe (rather than scared) in its prolonged presence.

If you still interested in the story (or the lack of it) here you go. Dr Suhani (Sayali Bhagat) fulfils the prerequisite of the traditional horror-film heroines who are shit-scared yet always step into uncharted territory to discover something supernatural. Vijay Singh (Shiny Ahuja) qualifies as the protagonist prototype who ignore paranormal activity to start with but are interlinked with it soon after. A series of 'heart-breaking' murders happen in the hospital and Vijay is the investigating detective.

Further he is conveniently diagnosed of selective memory loss and evidently his past has come back to haunt the hospital. The heroine reads out random incomprehensible verses from Bible and those are interpreted into real life. If that was not enough there's an entity carrying two owls on his shoulder who plays the rechristened avatar of Yamraaj. A female version of the passion of Christ is forced in the climax in a desperate attempt to strike an analogy with Jesus.

On a serious note, Ghost neither scores in storytelling nor in shock treatments. The plot dates back to an obsolete revenge drama while the horror treatment is lame and ludicrous. Unlike most mediocre horror flicks that at least try to cover up the lack of an original story with shock tactics and sound effects, Ghost doesn't even attempt that. The horror is too barefaced with a shabby-masked zombie appearing at regular intervals to eat your heart out. One is too acclimatized with the ghost to be surprised with its entry. Even the body-butchering scenes do not affect much.

Amidst all this is a half-baked romance track between Shiny Ahuja and Sayali Bhagat who actually seem absolutely uninterested in each other. The investigation plot never registers nor do you care for it. The background score often misleads. A garish item song is more horrifying than the ghost per se. Puja Jatinder Bedi triples up as the writer, editor and director of this horror flick and scores a perfect hat-trick at disaster.

The performances are as lifeless as the film. Shiny Ahuja remains deadpan and fails to display anything beyond his pink lips. He seems atrociously uncomfortable in a dance number where he desperately seeks for cues. Sayali Bhagat lacks spirit. Julia Bliss is awful.

Coming back to its original fan-club, Ghost is killer stuff in the unintentionally funny zone. Just ensure you have likeminded company and be prepared to laugh like hell!

Verdict: Poor

players movie review

For Bollywood, 2012 did njot start on a very good note. The film Players which released last Friday, went thud at the box office, failing to pull the crowd to theaters, despite tremendous publicity.
Hitting over 2000 screens, the film managed to collect Rs. 4.7 crore on Friday. Saturdays usually see a rise in business. However, the collection decreased to Rs. 4.6 crore. Sunday however, saw a raise of Rs 5.75 crore.
To sum up the total, the weekends collection was Rs. 15 crore. What’s depressing is that, despite ‘Players’ being a single release, signs of picking up in the coming days are very beak.
Coming to Don2, the film has emerged as a superhit, crossing a total collection of Rs. 100 crore.
The next major release would be Agneepath on January 26.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara movie review

rating 3.5 out of 5

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara opens with a scene in which a young man is on his knees, proposing to a girl he has known for no more than six months. The film ends with three buddies on the run from the bulls of Pamplona in an affirmation of freedom from all baggage, professional, emotional and social. It can happen only in Spain.

Kabir (Abhay Deol), the young son of a construction tycoon, is engaged to an interior designer, Natasha (Kalki Koechlin). “I construct buildings and you design interiors, we are perfect,” the scion tells his would-be wife. The wedding date is promptly fixed.

To celebrate the impending end of his bachelor status, Kabir and his two best friends, free-spirited advertising copywriter Imran (Farhan Akhtar) and workaholic financial broker Arjun (Hrithik Roshan), embark on an extended road trip through Spain.

It turns out to be an outing of a lifetime as the three men confront the past, negotiate the present and carve out a new future. They are helped along by a lively half-Indian, half-British girl Laila (Katrina Kaif), who they meet on a beach in Costa Brava. She turns out to be their deep sea diving instructor. Laila believes that a man should be in a box only when he is dead.

murder 2 movie review

review : avarage movie
stars : 2.5 out of 5

Murder 2
Murder 2More Pics
The sensationalism that Murder achieved half past the film, the sequel attains in the first ten minutes itself.

Jacqueline Fernandez is as much seductive as Mallika Sherawat and comparatively more tastefully tempting. However the entire erotica in the sequel is completely peripheral to the plot. On the contrary while the first part involved only an accidental half-murder, the sequel indulges in rampant massacre. So while the sensuality in the treatment seems forced in Murder 2 , the semi-slasher shade attempts to bring more justice to the title.

Arjun (Emraan Hashmi), an ex-cop, is hired by a Goan pimp for an unofficial assignment. Several hookers have gone missing under mysterious circumstances and Arjun has to trace their whereabouts. He finds out that all the missing girls were called by the same person. When a new girl Reshma (Sulagna) is sent as bait to catch hold of the culprit, she falls prey of the serial killer. Arjun catches hold of the killer but has to get enough evidence against him.

buddha hoga tera baap movie review movie review

Story: Viju (Amitabh Bachchan), a former gangster from Mumbai returns to his city after having moved to Paris. The city has been rattled by a series of bomb blasts master minded by gangster Prakash Raaj who is on the hit list of the ACP (Sonu Sood). But Prakash Raaj has his own plans to get rid of the meddlesome cop and hires an assassin for the job. Is Amitabh the high profile assassin or is he the cop's guardian angel?

Movie Review : Don't go by the title of this film. Surely, this must be one of the worst titles of any Amitabh starrer... even Lal Baadshah was a few shades better. Look beyond the misleading pulp fiction title and you will end up savouring a film which amply proves why Bachchan has remained the ultimate showman that the Indian film industry has ever produced.

No, this isn't Bachchan's best and may not compare with his classics -- and we don't need to name them here. Nevertheless, Bbuddah... is a high dose entertainer when the veteran actor never stops amazing you with the range of his histrionics. Despite his age, he grabs eyeballs with his action cuts, his comic cameos, his romantic ditties (with Hema), his libidinous encounters (with Raveena), his emotional bytes, his derring-do, and his over-the top sartorial sense. Like a one-man colossus, he towers over the screen and still manages to give you one of the finest re-mix rap numbers of all his earlier hits (Go Meera Go) and a thrilling shoot-out that has you clapping in the end.

Way to go Mr Bachchan. We always maintained you were the best. Of course, the film has its loose and superfluous moments, but those are easily ignored.

delhi belly movie review

nice movie

Opening this Friday is the Abhinay Deo directed, Aamir Khan produced comedy Delhi Belly. The film stars Imran Khan, Vir Das and Kunal Roy Kapoor, who are caught up in the mad cap story of chases, gangsters and all sorts of trouble that make up Delhi Belly. The boys club is joined by actress Poorna Jagannathan, who plays one of Imran’s colleagues Menaka. Calling the film completely outrageous, Poorna says it is a hysterical comedy that had her falling on the floor laughing from her first read of the script. She sat down and talked with us about working with Imran, Aamir and what you will say while watching this film!

How did the role in Delhi Belly come about?

I was in India for a wedding and I bumped into a friend who was doing the costumes for the film. He knew my work from New York and said, ‘Oh I think you must be right for something I am associated with’. He set me up with an audition. It was a simple, simple kind of audition and I had several of them. It is a great character and fit like a glove.

Tell us about your character.

Her name is Menaka and she’s a journalist. She just a pistol of a character, definitely a woman who lives life on her own terms. She is also very mellow, very laid back. She is someone you just completely relate to. The whole tone of the movie is very relatable. Although it’s an outright outrageous comedy, it’s also so conversational and so real.

Scream 4 movie review in bollywood

star :6.5 out of 10
Ten years have passed, and Sidney Prescott, who has put herself back together thanks in part to her writing, is visited by the Ghostface Killer.

Director:
Wes Craven
Writers:
Kevin Williamson, Kevin Williamson (characters)
Stars:
Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquettestar\

story detailed:

The Scream series has always been a great, commercial representation for our love of cinema. They’re the rare movies that said, “If you are a fan of movies, this is for you” and actually found success. The problem with that, however, was as the films got more and more self-aware, character and storyline took more and more of a back seat. There in lies the problem with Scream 4. It tries so hard to be smarter, funnier, gorier and scarier than all of its predecessors that it often misses the mark. When it hits the mark, it hits it hard and in a near totally redeeming manner, but it’s impossible to totally redeem a lazy narrative structure that’s almost devoid of scares. Fans of the franchise will find plenty to enjoy, but others might find themselves frustrated.

It’s been about a decade since the end of Scream 3 and Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is returning to Woodsboro for the first time in a long time. The newly minted author is doing so to attend a her book signing which, of course, just happens to coincide with the anniversary (doesn’t it always?) of the original killings. She’s reunited with Dewey (David Arquette) and Gail (Courteney Cox) as well as her last remaining family – her aunt (Mary McDonnell) and cousin Jill (Emma Roberts). Also back for the 10 year reunion is Ghostface. After the trademark pre-credits murder, a lot of time is spent resetting all of the pieces, explaining who is who and how they relate to each other. This is most certainly a reboot.

Scream 4 Movie Review

Once the characters are set, though, the film shoots off into the dark, moving from place to place and location to location for almost no reason. Characters simply ignore the fact that there’s a killer on the loose and do, say and go anywhere they please. It’s as if there’s no subtlety to anyone or anything in the entire movie. And because this is the fourth Scream, these actions all escalate very quickly. The kills are bigger, the movie references more obvious and the characters less believable. This results in a lot of really cool scenes, but when every action lacks tact, it makes being scary almost impossible. It’s as if screenwriter Kevin Williamson and director Wes Craven were so obsessed with the whodunit aspect and gushing blood, they forgot this was a horror movie and supposed to be scary.

The actual point of Scream 4 isn’t to scare us, though. It’s not even to find out who the killer is. The real point of the movie is to show how technology has changed the way we live, communicate and watch movies. There are references to Twitter, everyone has an iPhone, uses apps, texts, streams video, all of that good stuff. Plus there’s a lengthy discussion about how reboots totally change the rules. That’s true to an extent, and actually quite enticing but, like the technology theme, it’s never fully developed or explored. The ideas are sort of peppered on top; said and not shown.

Being as it had to breath life into a franchise that had been dormant for over decade, Scream 4 is an incredibly valiant effort. The whole series was born to flip a genre on its head and this film certainly succeeds in both reinventing the franchise and introducing a slew of new ideas to the already well-known story. It just should have concentrated more on that instead of all its excess. The excess is undoubtedly fun, especially if you’ve enjoyed the other films in the franchise, but it doesn’t quite cover up all of the problems.

Film Rating: 6.5/10

teen they bhai movie review

stars : 2.5 stars get out 5
Artists (Cast) : Ragini Khanna, Deepak Dobriyal, Om Puri, Shreyas Talpade

Producer : Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra
Director : Mrigdeep Singh Lamba
Music Director : Ranjit Barot, Sukhwinder Singh

story : Three down-on-luck and out-of-money brothers are summoned to the death of their grandfather...
Movie Review: The good news is that Bollywood is brimming over with fresh talent as more and more young film makers don the director's hat and try their skills at story telling. Their's is a young vision and a modern sensibility that tries to steer clear of formula and cliche. And even if it looks at formula, it dabbles with it differently, as was evident in Dabangg.

Teen Thay Bhai may have been produced by Rakeysh Mehra but it has been directed by first-timer Mrigdeep Singh Lamba who does show promise as a filmmaker to watch out for. Just that his first film ends up as a half-blown venture where there are too many theatrics and too many loosely edited scenes to allow the film to unfold as an uninterrupted laugh riot. Now that's sad, because in terms of characterizations, the film is riveting. Om Puri's loud, crabby, me-centric Punjabi businessman act is quite funny, specially when it comes to his attempts to get his overweight daughters married. Deepak Dobriyal as the quack dentist with the quirky hobby -- he loves to iron clothes -- is absolutely mercurial, even as his love story with village vixen, Ragini Khanna, ends up as the finest track in the film. Ragini herself makes an interesting shift from television to films with her breezy act as the boisterous Punjabi girl who loves to lie. And finally, there is Shreyas Talpade who pitches in as the third brother, a wannabe actor, inspired by Hollywood pulp. His rendition of the happy-go-lucky yokel is completely over the top and tends to get too melodramatic, here and there. But by and large, between them, the three brothers create a tantalizing trio that keeps rubbing each other off the wrong side.

The film however lacks consistency and some of the comic situations fail to evoke any humour. While the brothers try to co-exist peacefully in the ramschackled bungalow and almost end up killing each other, the drama holds your interest. But as it moves out into the wilderness, with blondes, dogs, drugs and cops, it loses track.

Watch out for the zany music track (Sukhwinder Singh and Ranjit Barot) with Mohit Chauhan and Daler Mehndi giving a lively rendition to Gulzar's funky lyrics, some arresting performances by the key players and Ashok Mehta's camerawork which creates magic with Kashmir. And yes, there's Yograj Singh making his debut in Hindi cinema as the angsty Punjabi dadaji. Yograj Singh, who? Sadda Yuvraj Singh's daddy! All this might help you tide over the intermittent yawns that threaten to cloud an otherwise smart comedy.

Teen Thay Bhai Movie Scoops:

thank you movie review

Directed by : Anees Bazmee
Produced by : Ronnie Screwvala, Twinkle Khanna
Starring : Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Suniel Shetty, Irfan Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Celina Jaitley, Rimi Sen.
Music by : Pritam Chakraborty
Cinematography : Ravi Yadav
Editing by : Steven H. Bernard
Distributed by : UTV Motion Pictures, Hari Om Productions.
review.................................................... Ek Baar Chalta Hai/ Bakwaas ‘Men are Dogs’ and ‘Women are Dodos’…

Looks like, director Annes Bazmee has a fondness for expressive words like WELCOME, NO PROBLEM and now THANK YOU

After "SINGH IS KINNG" Akshay Kumar and Anees Bazmee have once again paired up after almost 3 years,A multi starer rom-com heavily inspired by Bazmee’s earlier comic flick, No Entry.

Thank You is about three married men trying to have some fun outside their marriage like no entry.
In movie Raj (Bobby Deol), Vikram (Irrfan Khan) and Yogi (Suniel Shetty) are three friends who are married to Sanjana (Sonam Kapoor), Karthika (Rimi Sen) and Radha (Celina Jaitley) and then cheat them.

Raj (Bobby Deol) and Simran (Sonam Kapoor) are a happily married couple. But soon, She suspects her husband flirting behind her back, Maya (Celina Jaitly), wife of Yogi (Sunil Shetty) catches him red handed with another girl, and Vikram (Irrfan Khan), who is also unfaithful to his wife, keep Shivani (Rimi Sen) so petrified that she never dared to question him.
In short, the trio philandering husbands tries to spice up their humdrum lives by embarking on extramarital affairs. They never think twice before cheating on their wives.

Enters Kishan (Akshay Kumar), a private detective or you can say a modern day love doctor who spies on the three promiscuous husbands and promises to teach them a lesson that they’ll remember lifelong.
As usual, there is a lot of confusion that follows. That’s not it… There is a very tacky flashback story of Akshay Kumar too.

The highlights of the flick are the scenes between Vikram and Shivani and Yogi’s frustration, which tickle your funny bones to the core. The first half of the film is disappointing, leaving you to look for the rare laughs, while the second half saved the entire script. It has you grinning at certain goof-ups. Again, the film’s climax was a BIG bore.

Akshay Kumar’s acting is not good. Sunil Shetty kicked up a bit of fun, and must confess, his acting came as a pleasant surprise to me. Bobby Deol’s role is hard he is seen angry with his wife in almost the entire film. But his acting was decent enough. Irrfan Khan is mind-blowing. It was a delight watching him. Every single scene that he was in, brought a riot of laughter among the audience.
Sonam Kapoor was again just a glamor doll in the flick. She could not emote genuinely in a single scene. Her performance was below average. Rimi Sen did a fabulous job. Her comic timing was simply wonderful along with Irrfan Khan. Celina Jaitly is hardly seen in the drama. She disappears from the large part of the film. Mallika Sherawat item no Razia, failed to impress the audience.

There was no fresh story in the film. He did try to keep the audience involved and amused for a larger part of the flick. Pritam’s music is not very good.Unlike his previous creations, this one was disappointing. Editing by Steven H. Bernard is crisp, Yadav’s cinematography is first class.

f.a.l.t.u is more interesting then game

This Friday had a shock in store for the makers of Game. The film was trumped at the box office by the much-smaller production F.A.L.T.U.

Game, directed by Abhinay Deo and starring Abhishek Bachchan, Kangana Ranaut, Sarah Jane Dias, opened to a dull 5 to 10 percent response at theaters. The film’s failure to take a good opening can’t be ascribed to the ongoing cricket world cup because the other release of the week, F.A.L.T.U opened to a heartening 50 to 80 percent response at box office.

Clearly, the comedy film featuring the non-stars like Jacky Bhagnani, Puja Gupta, Angad Bedi and Arshad Warsi has been able to draw more footfalls than Game which has, apart from big stars, scenic locations of Istanbul, London and Greece.

What seems to have worked in the favor of F.A.L.T.U is its feelgood theme of youngsters who form their own university after failing to get admission anywhere. On the other hand, Game has been panned by the critics for being too slow and lackluster.
